1. About BillsMaster
BillsMaster is a Nigerian-based fintech platform designed to make bill payments seamless, profitable, and effortless. We provide individuals, resellers, and agents with tools to purchase airtime, data, utility subscriptions, and international virtual dollar cards, as well as earn referral bonuses and access financial analytics.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that is necessary to provide you with our services securely and effectively. The categories of personal data we collect include:
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Bank Verification Number (BVN) and/or National Identification Number (NIN) – Required for KYC with our API Providees but not stored or assessible to us
- Bank account details
- Government-issued identification documents (where required for agent or reseller verification)
- Profile information
2.2 Information Generated Through Your Use of the Platform
- Transaction history, including airtime purchases, data subscriptions, utility payments, and virtual card activity
- Referral activity and bonus records
- Sales analytics and account performance data
- Login timestamps and session information
- Customer support interactions
3. How We Use Your Information
BillsMaster uses your personal information for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account and verify your identity
- To process and complete bill payment transactions on your behalf
- To comply with Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulatory requirements
- To detect, prevent, and investigate fraudulent or unauthorised activity
- To calculate and credit referral bonuses and agent commissions
- To provide you with transaction receipts, account statements, and platform notifications
- To respond to your enquiries and provide customer support
- To improve the functionality, security, and user experience of the platform
- To send you important service-related communications (you may opt out of marketing communications at any time)
- To comply with applicable Nigerian laws, regulations, and legal processes
We do not use your personal data for purposes incompatible with those stated above without first obtaining your consent.
4. Legal Basis for Processing Your Data
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA), we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

- Legal obligation — processing required to comply with Nigerian financial regulations, including CBN guidelines, KYC requirements, and AML obligations
- Legitimate interests — processing for fraud prevention, platform security, and service improvement, where these interests are not overridden by your rights
- Consent — where we have obtained your specific, informed consent, including for optional communications
5. BVN and NIN Data
BillsMaster collects Bank Verification Number (BVN) and/or National Identification Number (NIN) as required by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for identity verification, fraud prevention, and regulatory compliance. This data is:
- Collected only with your explicit consent at the point of onboarding or account upgrade
- Used solely for identity verification and regulatory compliance purposes
- Never sold, rented, or shared with any third party for commercial purposes
- Processed in accordance with CBN and NITDA guidelines
6. How We Share Your Information
BillsMaster does not sell your personal data. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
6.1 Service Providers
We share data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the platform, including payment processors, cloud hosting providers, identity verification services, and customer support tools. All service providers are contractually required to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.
6.2 Regulatory and Legal Compliance
We may disclose your information to Nigerian regulatory bodies (including the CBN, EFCC, and NITDA), law enforcement agencies, or courts where required by law, court order, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of BillsMaster, our users, or the public.
6.3 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6.4 With Your Consent
We may share your data with any third party where you have provided explicit consent to do so.
7. Data Security
We take the security of your personal data seriously. BillsMaster implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
- End-to-end encryption for sensitive data transmission
- Secure storage with AES-256 encryption for data at rest
- Multi-factor authentication for account access
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Strict internal access controls — only authorised personnel can access personal data, and only on a need-to-know basis
- Continuous monitoring for suspicious activity and fraud
Despite our best efforts, no system is completely immune to security risks. In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and the relevant Nigerian authorities in accordance with NDPA requirements.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy. Specifically
When data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise it in accordance with our data retention schedule.
9. Your Rights Under the NDPA
As a data subject under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Right of Access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right to Rectification — you may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right to Erasure — you may request deletion of your account and personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations
- Right to Restriction of Processing — you may request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances
- Right to Data Portability — you may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Right to Object — you may object to processing based on legitimate interests, including for marketing purposes
- Right to Withdraw Consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@billsmaster.com or use the account deletion feature within the app. We will respond to all valid requests within 30 days.
10. Account Deletion
You have the right to delete your BillsMaster account and request erasure of your personal data at any time. To submit a deletion request:
- Submit a request through our dedicated account deletion page at billsmaster.com.ng/delete-account, or
- Send a written request to privacy@billsmaster.com
Upon receiving your deletion request, we will:
- Verify your identity before processing the request
- Deactivate your account within 7 business days
- Permanently delete your personal data within 30 days, subject to data we are legally required to retain
- Confirm deletion to you by email once completed
Please note that deletion of your account will result in permanent loss of your transaction history, referral bonuses, wallet balance, and all other account data. Any outstanding wallet balance should be withdrawn before submitting a deletion request. BillsMaster is not responsible for any balance forfeited after account deletion.
11. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The BillsMaster mobile application and web platform may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve your experience, maintain session security, and analyse platform usage. You may control cookie preferences through your device settings. Please note that disabling certain technologies may affect the functionality of the platform.
12. Children’s Privacy
BillsMaster is not designed for or directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such data immediately. If you believe a minor has registered on our platform, please contact us at privacy@billsmaster.com.
13. Third-Party Links
Our platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. BillsMaster is not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party service. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external sites you visit through links on our platform.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
BillsMaster reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify you of material changes by sending a notification through the app or to your registered email address at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
The current version of this policy will always be available within the BillsMaster app and on our website.
